Product Description
The LRF600H is a long-range industrial LiDAR distance sensor based on the Direct Time of Flight (DToF) principle. It combines a 600 m measuring range with compact dimensions, wide input voltage and a simple serial interface, making it suitable for integration into traffic safety warning systems, shuttle and land transport vehicles, overhead cranes and other collision-avoidance or positioning platforms.
The module measures from 0.05 m to 600 m on 90% reflectivity targets and from 0.05 m to 200 m on 10% reflectivity surfaces, with a blind zone of 5 cm. Accuracy is specified as ±10 cm below 10 m and 1% of distance at 10 m and above, while repeatability is ±5 cm under 10 m and ±50 cm at 600 m. Resolution is 1 cm, so system designers can use the data directly for distance limits, speed-dependent warning thresholds and position control without complex post-processing.
The LRF600H supports two measuring frequencies, 1 kHz and 50 Hz, and it can automatically switch between them according to the strength of the returned signal. At closer ranges or with strong reflectors, high-rate output provides dense data for real-time control; at long distances or on weak targets, the lower rate increases integration time and improves robustness without requiring host intervention. The field of view is about 4 mrad, helping the beam stay tight enough for corridor monitoring, reflector targeting and structural clearance checks.
For demanding outdoor scenes, the sensor is designed with ambient light immunity up to 100 kLux, allowing reliable ranging in strong sunlight on roads, in yards or at construction sites. The emission wavelength is 905 nm, and the product is classified as photobiological safety Class 1, which is suitable for fixed and mobile industrial equipment when integrated with appropriate mechanical protection. Operating temperature is rated from −20 °C to +60 °C, covering typical outdoor and plant environments.
Electrically, the LRF600H operates from a 9–36 V DC supply, so it can be powered directly from 12 V or 24 V vehicle and industrial buses. Peak current is about 100 mA, average current approximately 55 mA, corresponding to around 1.2 W average power consumption, which is favourable for distributed sensing nodes along long conveyor lines or traffic corridors. Communication is via UART or I²C, giving flexibility for PLCs, embedded controllers and industrial PCs.
On the UART interface, the default baud rate is 460800 bps (adjustable), with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and no parity. Data output uses a 4-byte little-endian frame: frame header 0x5C, two bytes of distance in centimetres (0–65 535 cm, with 65 535 cm representing out-of-range) and a checksum byte that is the bitwise inverse of the sum of the middle bytes. The command set includes functions to read the serial number, set and read the baud rate, and read the software version, all using the same checksum rule for easy firmware implementation.
Mechanically, the LRF600H uses a compact housing of 33 × 34 × 18 mm with a weight of 20±2 g and is delivered with a 1.25 mm, 5-pin, 50 cm stranded-wire harness. The wiring provides 9–36 V power (red), power ground (black), port ground (yellow), TX (green) and RX (blue), simplifying connection to external controllers and junction boxes. This combination of small size and long measuring range allows the sensor to be mounted on moving vehicles, crane trolleys, gantry structures or roadside poles.
Typical applications include traffic safety early warning, such as monitoring vehicle distance on roads or in tunnels; distance detection and anti-collision for shuttle and land transport vehicles; overhead crane position and clearance monitoring; and blade encroachment or structure approach detection in large machinery and infrastructure. In these scenarios, the LRF600H provides a cost-effective way to obtain reliable single-point distance data over several hundred meters.
