Operating Instructions

  1. Match the laser driver to the ER10000 laser.
    The laser driver power supply must be properly matched to the laser.
    The typical load voltage of the ER10000 is < 14 V, with an operating current of 100 A, pulse width < 4 ms, and a repetition rate of 5 Hz. For the exact operating parameters, please refer to the attached factory test report.
    The laser driver power supply must meet these requirements; otherwise, the laser may fail to operate properly or could be overloaded and permanently damaged. Therefore, before wiring, carefully check the laser specification sheet and confirm that the laser is compatible with the selected driver.

  2. Always disconnect power before wiring.
    Before making any connections, make sure the power is switched off and completely isolated. During wiring, carefully check the positive and negative terminals of the laser and ensure correct polarity. After the wiring is completed, perform a thorough inspection to confirm that all connections are correct, in order to avoid short circuits, reverse polarity, and other faults. At the same time, make sure all terminals are firmly secured to prevent poor contact due to loose wiring.

  3. Set operating parameters according to the factory test report.
    After confirming that the wiring is correct, set the corresponding parameters on the driver according to the attached factory test report. Once the parameters are correctly set, turn on the driver; the laser should then operate normally.

ER10000 1.54µm / 1535nm 10mJ Eye-Safe Erbium Glass Microchip DPSS Laser

The ER10000 is a 10 mJ 1535 nm eye-safe erbium glass microchip DPSS laser designed as a high-energy transmitter core for long-range LiDAR, laser rangefinders, atmospheric and remote-sensing lidars, and other infrared sensing platforms that demand millijoule-level pulses in a compact package. It uses co-doped Er:Yb phosphate glass pumped by a semiconductor laser diode to generate Class 1 eye-safe output around 1.5 µm, where the beam is strongly absorbed by the cornea and lens rather than the retina.

The ER10000 provides pulse energy ≥ 10 mJ with a typical laser pulse width of 12 ns and a repetition rate adjustable from 1 to 5 Hz. Pulse stability is specified at 5 %, enabling consistent peak power from shot to shot. The raw beam diameter is about 0.8 mm, the full-angle divergence is ≤ 4 mrad, and the beam operates in a TEM₀₀ mode, so it can be efficiently expanded for long-range free-space propagation or coupled into compact transmit optics and scanning antennas. These characteristics match the requirements of multi-kilometer-class laser rangefinding and LiDAR ranging from hundreds of meters to tens of kilometers, depending on optics and target conditions.

Mechanically, the ER10000 is packaged in a 110 × 40 × 24.5 mm³ housing with a weight of about 220 g, giving system designers a genuinely high-energy 1535 nm source that still fits into EO/IR pods, vehicle turrets and fixed sensor heads where volume and mass are constrained. Electrically, the typical load voltage is < 14 V with an operating current of 100 A, a drive pulse width ≤ 4 ms and a nominal 5 Hz repetition rate within the 1–5 Hz working window. The driver must be properly matched to these parameters; otherwise the laser may fail to operate correctly or could be overloaded and permanently damaged.

The ER10000 is built for harsh outdoor environments. It operates from −40 °C to +65 °C and can be stored between −55 °C and +75 °C. It withstands 1500 G shock with 0.5 ms duration and 20–2000 Hz vibration at 20 G, with a specified lifetime of more than one million shots, which aligns with long-life airborne, vehicle and fixed-site LiDAR and rangefinding platforms.

While long-range laser rangefinding and LiDAR are the most obvious use cases, 1.5 µm Er:glass lasers are also widely used in laser remote sensing, meteorological radar, fuze and proximity sensors, and infrared target illumination, where the eye-safe wavelength and good atmospheric transmission are critical advantages. The same wavelength band overlaps with telecom windows, so 1535 nm sources are frequently used with fiber-optic components for free-space optical links, coherent Doppler lidars for wind-field measurement and high-precision environmental monitoring.

Operation of the ER10000 follows standard high-energy Er:glass practice. The laser driver must be matched to the specified load voltage, current, pulse width and repetition rate; power must be fully disconnected before wiring; polarity and terminal connections must be carefully checked; and after wiring, a full inspection is required before enabling the driver. Once parameters are set according to the factory test report and the driver is switched on, the ER10000 operates as a stable, repeatable pulse source at 1535 nm.

Taken together, the 10 mJ pulse energy, 12 ns pulse width, TEM₀₀ beam, rugged mechanical design and Class 1 eye-safe wavelength make the ER10000 a versatile 1535 nm platform laser for long-range LiDAR channels, precision rangefinders, atmospheric and remote-sensing systems, fuze and proximity sensors, and fiber-based or free-space infrared links where both safety and performance must be satisfied.
