Product Description
Built on direct time-of-flight (DToF) technology, the LRF1500H is a long-range single-point LiDAR distance sensor designed for UAV platforms, electro-optical pods, traffic safety systems and security monitoring equipment. It integrates a 1.5 km ranging capability, wide-range industrial power input and a compact optical head into a module that is easy to embed as an OEM distance core.
The sensor covers 0.05–1500 m on 90% reflectivity targets and 0.05–300 m on 10% reflectivity targets, with a blind zone of 5 cm. Ranging accuracy is ±10 cm below 10 m and 1% of distance for 10 m and above, while repeatability is ±5 cm within 10 m and ±100 cm at 1500 m, and the distance resolution is 1 cm. These specifications give system designers predictable performance for long-range clearance monitoring, route surveillance and scene measurement in air or on the ground.
The LRF1500H operates at 1 kHz or 50 Hz measuring frequency, and the module automatically switches between the two rates according to the intensity of the returned signal. At short and medium ranges, high-rate output supports fast control loops on UAVs and gimbals; when the target is far or the echo is weak, the sensor can slow down to accumulate more signal energy, improving stability without additional logic in the host controller.
To cope with bright outdoor scenes, the device offers ambient light immunity up to 100 kLux, making it suitable for traffic safety early-warning systems and perimeter security in full daylight. The emission wavelength is 905 nm with photobiological safety Class 1, and the field of view is about 4 mrad, keeping the beam sufficiently narrow for targeting reflectors, structures or specific regions in the field of view.
Power is supplied via a 9–36 V DC input, compatible with 12 V and 24 V vehicle or industrial power rails. Typical peak current is 100 mA, with average current around 55 mA, corresponding to about 1.2 W average power consumption, which is attractive for airborne payloads and mobile security platforms. Communication is available through both UART and I²C (IIC) interfaces, giving flexibility for integration with flight controllers, embedded processors or industrial control systems.
On the UART interface, the default baud rate is 460 800 bps (adjustable). Each distance reading is transmitted as a 5-byte little-endian frame: frame header 0x5C, followed by three bytes of distance in centimetres (0–16 777 215 cm, with the maximum value indicating out-of-range), and a checksum byte which is the bitwise inverse of the sum of the middle bytes. Simple command frames allow the host to read the serial number, set and query the baud rate, and read the software version, using the same checksum rule.
Mechanically, the LRF1500H is compact and lightweight, with dimensions of 33 × 34 × 18 mm and a weight of 20±2 g, making it easy to mount inside UAV pods, PTZ heads, roadside cabinets or compact security housings. A 1.25 mm, 5-pin, 50 cm stranded-wire harness provides connections for 9–36 V power, grounds and UART TX/RX, simplifying wiring in both airborne and ground-based systems. The operating temperature range is −20 °C to +60 °C, covering most outdoor and industrial environments.
Typical applications include traffic safety early warning, where the LiDAR monitors vehicle distance over long approach paths; camera focusing and target assistance on pods and PTZ cameras; tower-crane distance detection and collision prevention; and blade encroachment detection on wind turbines or other rotating structures, where 1.5 km capability provides generous safety margins and flexible mounting options.
With its 0.05–1500 m range, adaptive 1 kHz / 50 Hz measuring frequency, 1 cm resolution, 9–36 V DC supply, 100 kLux ambient light immunity and UART/I²C interfaces, the LRF1500H is a practical choice whenever long-distance, single-point LiDAR measurement is required on UAVs, pods, traffic infrastructure or security systems.
