Product Description
The LRF300H is a mid-to-long-range LiDAR distance sensor based on the Direct Time of Flight (DToF) principle, combining a 300 m measuring range with compact size and industrial-grade power and interface options. It is supplied as an OEM module for secondary development in UAV payloads, mobile robots, special vehicles and fixed installations that require accurate distance data over hundreds of meters.
The sensor covers 0.05–300 m on 90% reflectivity targets and 0.05–100 m on 10% reflectivity targets, with a blind zone of 5 cm. Accuracy is specified as ±10 cm below 10 m and 1% of distance at 10 m and above, while repeatability is ±5 cm under 10 m and ±10 cm at 300 m. The distance resolution is 1 cm, giving engineers a clear, quantitative basis for long-range positioning, clearance monitoring and early-warning applications in open environments.
A distinctive feature of the LRF300H is its dual measuring frequency of 1 kHz or 50 Hz, with automatic switching to match the strength of the returned signal. At close and medium distances, high-rate output supports fast control loops on UAVs and special vehicles; at longer ranges or on weaker targets, the sensor can slow down to accumulate more signal energy, improving robustness without requiring host-side reconfiguration.
The module offers ambient light immunity up to 100 kLux, enabling reliable operation in bright outdoor conditions such as road traffic scenes, construction sites and wind farms. It uses a 905 nm laser and is classified as photobiological safety Class 1, making it suitable for systems deployed around people when combined with appropriate mechanical design and risk assessment. The specified operating temperature range is −20 °C to +60 °C, covering most outdoor and industrial applications.
Electrically, the LRF300H accepts a 9–36 V DC supply, so it can be powered directly from standard 12 V or 24 V vehicle and industrial power buses. Peak current is about 100 mA, with average current around 55 mA, corresponding to approximately 1.2 W average power consumption, which is reasonable for a 300 m DToF LiDAR. Communication interfaces include both UART and I²C, giving flexibility for integration with PLCs, embedded controllers and single-board computers.
On the UART interface, the default configuration uses a 460 800 bps baud rate (adjustable), 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and no parity. Measurement data are transmitted continuously using a 4-byte little-endian frame: a frame header 0x5C, two bytes of distance in centimetres (0–65 535 cm, with 65 535 cm indicating out-of-range), and a check byte equal to the inverse of the sum of the middle bytes. Commands allow users to read the serial number, set and query the baud rate and read the software version, using simple hex frames that follow the same checksum rule.
Mechanically, the LRF300H shares the compact industrial housing of 33 × 34 × 18 mm with a weight of 20±2 g, connected via a 1.25 mm, 5-pin, 50 cm stranded-wire harness. The pinout provides 9–36 V power and ground, a port ground reference and TX/RX lines for data, simplifying wiring into existing control cabinets or UAV / robot harnesses. The sensor’s field of view is about 4 mrad, producing a relatively narrow beam that remains well defined over long distances, which is useful when targeting reflectors, tower structures, blades or vehicles in traffic lanes.
Typical application scenarios include traffic safety early-warning systems, where the module measures the distance to vehicles or obstacles over hundreds of meters; tower crane distance detection and collision prevention, where accurate range information helps maintain safe clearances; blade encroachment detection on wind turbines or large rotating machinery; and UAV height and distance measurement in inspection or mapping missions, where long-range single-point LiDAR complements other onboard sensors.
With its 0.05–300 m range, adaptive 1 kHz / 50 Hz measuring frequency, 1 cm resolution, 9–36 V DC supply, 100 kLux ambient light immunity and dual UART/I²C interfaces, the LRF300H is a practical choice wherever long-distance, single-point LiDAR sensing is required in a compact, integration-friendly module.
