LRF0305C 1535 nm laser rangefinder module for UAV and EO/IR payloads

The LRF0305C is a compact 1535 nm time-of-flight laser rangefinder module designed for UAV gimbals, EO/IR payloads, handheld optics and other space-constrained systems. Its 14 g mass and 27 × 25 × 15.5 mm housing help integrators add distance measurement without a large SWaP penalty.

LRF0305C specifications

Parameter Specification
Wavelength 1535 nm
Specified ranging distance 10–4,000 m
Ranging accuracy ±1 m
Measurement rate 1–10 Hz
Multi-target output Up to 3 targets
Supply voltage 3–5 V DC
Operating power <1.5 W
Host interface UART, TTL 3.3 V
Dimensions 27 × 25 × 15.5 mm
Mass 14 g

The maximum distance is a system specification, not a guaranteed result for every scene. Actual performance depends on target reflectivity and size, receiver aperture, atmospheric visibility, alignment, platform motion and host processing.

Why 1535 nm is used in compact rangefinders

A 1535 nm source can support a lower retinal-hazard design than visible and shorter near-infrared wavelengths. However, the eye-safety classification of a finished product depends on pulse energy, optics, divergence, exposure conditions and applicable testing. OEM integrators should verify the complete assembly against the standards required for its market and use case.

UAV and EO/IR integration considerations

  • Mechanical alignment: Keep the transmit and receive optical axes aligned with the camera or gimbal reference frame.
  • Power and timing: Confirm the 3–5 V supply, transient margin, UART timing and host command sequence.
  • Optical aperture: Avoid window coatings, vignetting and contamination that reduce return signal strength.
  • Calibration: Validate boresight, range bias and multi-target behavior in representative field conditions.
  • Environmental qualification: Test vibration, shock, temperature and sealing at the finished-payload level.

Typical applications

  • Lightweight UAV gimbals and mapping payloads
  • EO/IR observation systems and handheld optics
  • Robotics, perimeter monitoring and industrial distance sensing
